Kye Young Lee is a partner in the firm’s Electrical/IT Group. Ms. Lee’s multifaceted qualifications and technical expertise allow her to be active in multiple jurisdictions, often handling prosecution and patent matters for multinational corporations, as well as domestic research institutes and academia, particularly in the fields of AI, IoT, and big data.
Ms. Lee, being both a Korean patent attorney and U.S. attorney-at-law, utilizes her knowledge of global IP trends to provide clients with customized IP services and handle the most complex prosecution matters. She is often asked to provide lectures and seminars on patent prosecution in the US, and was the panel member responsible for discussing the unique features of the Korean patent system for Practicing Law Institute’s “Strategic & Transactional – Drafting Globally Compliant Patent Applications” seminar.
Ms. Lee is an active member of the Korean IP community, having served as a director for the Korean Patent Attorneys Association and President of the Korean Women Patent Attorneys Association. She is also a commissioner of the Korea Trade Commission in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, putting her efforts into mitigating damages arising from unfair practices, while also involved in efforts to resolve disputes at their early stages in her role as a commissioner of the Industrial Property Dispute Mediation Committee and the Information Protection Dispute Mediation Committee.
